Tufvanmästerskapen i poetry slam 2010!

Spelplanen är Café Tufvan på Campus men eftersom det inte arrangeras några andra tävlingar i Växjö så blir detta i förlängningen Växjömästerskapen i poetry slam! Vem är bäst i stan?

Det blir två semifinaler där man kan tävla vid första, vid både första och andra om man vill, eller bara vid andra. De bäst placerade tar sig till finalen och tävlar där om att bli Tufvanmästare, och i förlängningen även bäst i Växjö! Bor du utanför stan? Kom hit och sopa banan med det lokala motståndet!

The Tufvan poetry slam championship 2010!

The place where the action is will be Café Tufvan on Campus but since no other poetry slams are held in Växjö this will also be the Växjö poetry slam championship! Who is the best in town?

There will be 2 semi finals where you can choose to compete only in the first, both the first and the second, or only the second - however you want. The best poets from each semi final will qualify for the final and will be competing to become Tufvan champion and also the best in Växjö at poetry slam! Do you live outside of town? Come here and show that you are the better than the local poets!

Andra kvalet och SM/Second qualifier and the Championships

Jag har varit väldigt dålig på att uppdatera informationen om Växjökvalen i år och det ber jag om ursäkt för. Jag var inne på operation i samband med andra kvalet och sedan hopade sig skolarbetet. Jag hoppas att ni fått veta hur det gått på andra håll i varje fall. Här kommer uppdateringen hur som helst för informationen ska ju finnas att tillgå.

Det andra kvalet ägde i varje fall rum en aprilsöndag på CaféTufvan på Campus. Vi var hela 9 stycken tävlande och dessa var alltså:

Ett väldigt starkt startfält med mycket slamerfarenhet alltså. Växjös egna Anders Tornblad var konferencier, Malin Knutsson som gått kulturledarprogrammet på universitetet var bisittare och Conrad Luckett, redan kvalad till årets Växjölag var kalibreringspoet. Tävlingen var tight och mycket spännande, publiken var peppad, juryn hård som alltid och efter finalen så stod resultaten som följer, att Amanda Lindholm vunnit och alltså skulle representera Växjölaget för andra året i rad. Alexandra Palmqvist blev tvåa men var redan kvalad i Halland så hon gav sin plats i Växjölaget till Oscar Johansson som blev trea. Resten av kvalet placerade sig Amanda G, Anders, Erik, Peder, Erica och Elin.

Vi hade alltså ett Växjölag färdigt och det bestod av:

De åkte till SM i Uppsala i mitten av maj för att representera och det gick mycket bra. Man tog hem en bronspeng i lagtävlingen, Amanda blev sexa i individuella finalen, Henrik blev sjua i individuella finalen, Henrik vann improesitävlingen där Oscar slutade sjua och Conrad placerade sig som 17:e i individuella tävlingen där Oscar placerade sig som 37:a av 48 poeter. Ett fantastiskt facit för ett fantastiskt lag och arrangörerna i Växjö vill hälsa till laget att vi är vansinnigt stolta! Heja Växjö!

I have been very bad at updating this information about the Växjö qualifiers this year and I am very sorry about that. I had a surgery and then schoolwork happened. I hope you found out how it went from other people. Here is the long awaited update though, because I feel the information really should be here.

The second qualifier happened on an April Sunday at Café Tufvan on Campus. We were as many as 9 poets competing and these were:

A very strong field with a lot of poetry slam experience was battling this evening. Växjö's own Anders Tornblad was MC for the evening, Malin Knutsson counted the points and kept check of the time and Conrad Lucket, who had already got himself a spot in the Växjö team was the opening poet. It was an exciting and very dramatic competition, the audience was into it, the jury groups were tough but fair as always and after the final the results were as follows, that Amanda Lindholm won and qualified for the team the second year in a row. Alexandra Palmqvist finished second but had already qualified for the Halland team so she gave her spot to Oscar Johansson who finished third this evening. The rest finished as follows: Amanda G, Anders, Erik, Peder, Erica och Elin.

We had a Växjö team and it consisted of the following four poets:

They went to the Swedish Championshios in Uppsala in the middle of May to represent Växjö and they did very, very well. The team finished third in the team competition and got themselved a bronze, Amanda finished sixth in the individual final where Henrik finished seventh, Henrik won the improvisation competition where Oscar finished seventh and Conrad placed 17^th in the individual competition where Oscar placed 37^th out of 48 poets. Fantastic results for a fantastic team and the people behind the qualifiers in Växjö would like to say to the team how insanely proud we are of you guys! Go Växjö!

Kvalet/Qualifier 24/3

Så hur gick då första kvalet? Jo! Vi hade 5 ambitiösa tävlande denna kväll, varav så många som 4 var inresta från andra orter och en boende i Växjö. En av våra tävlande fastnade i Alvesta på vägen till Växjö men tog sig till slut fram. Vi var på Stadsbiblioteket denna onsdagkväll och det var rättså mycket folk i publiken. Vi hittade jurygrupper hur snabbt som helst och för det ska publiken ha stort tack. Jag, Erica alltså, var konferencier och min tappre kollega Theo var bisittare. Annie Almén agerade förpoet och sedan var spelet igång. Tävlande denna kväll var:

Det var, som ni ser, ett litet men mycket tungt startfält. Vi körde med tre grundomgångar istället för att ha två grundomgångar och en kvällsfinal. Den sista grundomgångens startordning var baserad på rankingen efter de första två, vilket gjorde det hela mycket spännande. Efter tre rafflande omgångar av fantastisk scenpoesi med skratt, i varje fall nästan gråt, tappra insatser på scen och allmän spänning stod det klart vilka två som är uttagna till Växjölaget från första kvalet och det är: Henrik Bergkvist och Conrad Luckett! Grattis vänner, och lycka till i Uppsala! Den 18 april på Café Tufvan utser vi vilka som gör er sällskap i laget. Kom och var med där allt händer!

So how did the first qualifier go? Well! We had 5 ambitious competitors this evening, of which as many as 4 had travelled from other towns and only one is living in Växjö. One of our competitors got stuck in Alvesta on his way to Växjö but finally reached us. We were at the City Library this Wednesday evening and we had a rather big audience. We found jury groups on the first try and I have to thank the amazing audience for that. I, Erica that is, was MC for the evening and my brave colleague Theo kept the scores. Annie Almén was the poet the jury groups practiced on and then the games began. Competitors this evening were:

It was, like you notice, a tough battle between a smaller number of competitors. We had three rounds instead of two rounds and one final. The starting order in the last of the three rounds was based on the ranking after the first two, which made the whole thing very exciting. After three rough rounds of amazing performance poetry with laughter, at least almost tears, brave efforts on stage and general excitement we had our two Växjö team members ready and they are Henrik Bergkvist and Conrad Luckett! Congratulations friends, and good luck in Uppsala! April 18 at Café Tufvan is when we see who will be the other two team members. Come and be there when it all happens!

Kval/Qualifiers 2010!

Växjö får ett lag i SM i poetry slam 2010 också! Nu är det alltså dags för kvalen för våren 2010 och det blir, precis som förra året, två datum. Ett datum blir på Stadsbiblioteket i stan, den 24 mars klockan 18.00 i cafédelen just innanför entrén. Här kommer vi ta ut halva Växjölaget, de två poeter som placerar sig bäst blir lagmedlemmar. Nästa kvaldatum blir på Café Tufvan på Campus, den 18 april klockan 17.00. Här kommer vi ta ut andra halvan av Växjölaget alltså, och de två poeter som placerar sig bäst blir de två sista lagmedlemmarna som kompletterar laget. De fyra Växjörepresentanterna åker sedan till SM i Uppsala som är under Kristi Himmelsfärdshelgen och tävlar mot slammare från hela landet. Vill du tävla? Självklart! Växjö gets to send a team to the Swedish Championships in poetry slam this year too! Now it's time for this years qualifiers and there will, just like last year, be two dates. One of these dates will be at the City Library, March 24 at 18.00 in the café part right by the entrance. Half the team will be qualifying here, the two best poets will become members of the team. The next date will be at Café Tufvan on Campus, April 18 at 17.00. The rest of the team will qualify here, the best two poets of this competition will complete the team. The four Växjö representatives will then go to Uppsala for the Swedish Championships in the middle of May and compete against poets from all over Sweden. Do you wanna compete? Of course! Efter SM/After the championships

Nu är alltså SM avslutat!

I sista sekunden fick vi avhopp från Växjölaget som resulterade i viss panik från arrangörernas sida. Vi gjorde vårt bästa och ringde oss genom våra telefonlistor för att hitta ersättare för de som lämnat återbud. Vi lyckades hitta en tapper själ som hoppade in så tyvärr fick laget åka till SM med en man kort. Laget skulle slutligen se ut såhär:

My tackade ja till att vara med på kvällen dagen innan SM började och skrev sina texter natten därpå. Första kvällen var Växjölaget tyvärr bara två deltagare för att My var tvungen att jobba i Stockholm men de kämpade på tappert för det och Amanda slutade fyra. Andra kvällen dök My upp och placerade sig i topp (fyra) i sitt bout liksom Amanda som vann. På fredagen skulle framgångarna bli ännu större! Oscar kvalade till improfinal, Amanda kvalade till individuell final genom att vinna även detta bout och My blev trea! Växjölaget besegrade också Kvalfria 1 och Kvalfria 2 och vann därmed sitt teampiecebout!

Det slutade med att My slog över halva deltagarfältet trots att hon inte fick något resultat på onsdagen. På lördagen placerade sig Oscar fyra i improfinalen och Amanda sexa i den individuella.

The Swedish Championships have now been held!

We had a few last minute cancellations in the Växjö team that caused some panic for ScenkonstCampus. We did our best and called our way through our lists of phonenumbers to find replacements for the people who cancelled. We managed to find one brave soul who took us up on our offer of a place on the Växjö team so the team had to go to the tournament one man short. The final team would look like this:

My accepted our offer to participate on the evening of the day before the championships would start and she wrote her texts on that very same night. The first evening the Växjö team had to make due with two participants since My had to work in Stockholm but they fought bravely no matter what and Amanda placed 4th in the bout. My arrived on the second day and took part in the bout that evening. Amanda won that bout and My placed 4th. On the Friday the success was to be even greater! Oscar qualified for the final for improvisational poetry, Amanda qualified for the individual final by winning the third bout too and My placed 3rd! The Växjö team beat Kvalfira 1 and Kvalfria 2 to win their teampiecebout!

My ended up beating over half the field of competitors without even getting a result for the first evening. After three very successful days of qualifiers Oscar and Amanda competed during the final evening. Oscar finished 4th in the improvisational poetry and Amanda placed 6th in the individual final!

Amazing achievements! ScenkonstCampus just wants to say: Go Växjö team!

Efter kval 2/After qualifier 2

Och så har det andra och sista kvalet alltså varit. En tisdagkväll i april samlades arrangörer, poeter, och en väldigt lagom stor poesiintresserad publik i Stadsbibliotekets kafédel. Kvällens startfält bestod av 9 poeter av blandat slag, varav ett antal var hitresta med tåg från bland annat Skåne. ScenkonstCampus representanter var laddade och numera lite mer bekväma i sin roll som poetry slam-arrangörer. Kvällens konferencier var undertecknad, vid namn Erica Engdahl och även denna kväll hade vi internationell närvaro bland de uppträdande, i form av utbytesstudenten Alana Waghorn som gjorde ett strålande jobb som kalibreringspoet. Efter en spännande och mycket jämn tävling med duktiga jurygrupper som i varje fall oftast var snabba med poängsättningen så stod Amanda och Midas som de två bästa för eftermiddagen och alltså också de som får representera Växjö tillsammans med Anders Tornblad och Oscar Johansson i SM i maj! Tack så mycket till alla som kom och tittade, och tack till alla tävlande poeter (både på Tufvan och biblioteket) och tack till jurygrupperna!

Vi som arrangerat heter ScenkonstCampus och är studentförening bunden till Kulturledarprogrammet på Växjö Universitet. Vi har haft jätteskoj under kvalen och vi hoppas att ni haft kul också! Tack!

And the second and last qualifier has now taken place. A Tuesday evening in April the arranging organisation, the poets, and a comfortably big audience of people interested in performance poetry gathered in the café at the City Library. Tonight’s field of competitors consisted of 9 poets with quite a variety of styles, of which a few had travelled from for example Skåne just to compete. ScenkonstCampus representatives where excited and this time a bit more comfortable with what it is to be responsible for a poetry slam. MC for the evening was yours truly, by the name of Erica Engdahl and British exchanger Alana Waghorn did an excellent job as opening poet. Competing poets for the evening were:

After an exciting and very close competition with ambitious jury groups who were, at least most of the time, quick with the scoring we had our two last members of the Växjö team! Amanda and Midas will join Anders Tornblad and Oscar Johansson in forming the team representing Växjö in the Swedish Championships in Norrköping in May! A big thank you to everybody in the audience, and one to all competing poets (in both Tufvan and the library) and one to all the great jury groups!

The people responsible for the qualifiers this term has been ScenkonstCampus, a student organisation tied to the Cultural Leadership programme at Växjö University. We’ve had a blast during the qualifiers and we hope you all enjoyed yourself too! Thank you!

Nu har alltså första kvalet ägt rum!

Det var en söndagseftermiddag på Tufvan, publiken var ganska stor och intresserad av vad som komma skulle och vi hade 6 stycken tävlande på plats varav en var hitrest ända från Malmö. ScenkonstCampus representanter på plats var peppade och lite nervösa. Eftermiddagens konferencierroll var delad mellan SKCs egna Vanessa Nordqvist och Lina Josefsson. Den amerikanske utbytesstudenten Brad var kalibreringspoet och de tävlande var följande:

The first qualifier has now taken place!

It was a Sunday afternoon at Tufvan, the audience was rather big and interested in what was coming up and we had 6 competitors there. One of them had even travelled all the way from Malmö! ScenkonstCampus representatives where excited and a bit nervous. We had two MCs this afternoon - SKC's own Vanessa Nordqvist and Lina Josefsson. The American exchanger Brad was the opening poet for the jury to practice their judging on and the competitors were the following:

After an close competition with good jury groups who were quick with the judging we had our two winners: Oscar and Anders! They were the best poets for the afternoon and they therefore won the first two spots on the Växjö team for the Swedish Championships in May! ScenkonstCampus wants to thank everybody who came to watch qualifier 1 and we would like to wish everybody a warm welcome to the qualifier at the City Library in April!
