Vad vi ska göra är alltså att tävla i att läsa poesi på scen. Som tävlande ställer man sig på scenen och läser en dikt som man själv skrivit. Den enda rekvisita som är okej att ha med sig på scenen är ett papper där ens dikt står nerskriven. Man har tre minuter på sig att läsa, läser man i längre tid än 3 minuter och 10 sekunder får man 0,5 poängs avdrag per påbörjade 10 sekunder. Om man läser i 3 minuter och 15 sekunder så får man alltså 0,5 poängs avdrag och när man läser i 3 minuter och 21 sekunder så får man 1,0 poängs avdrag. Innan tävlingen börjar väljs tre jurygrupper ur publiken och det är de som sätter poäng på de tävlande. Juryn kan sätta poäng mellan 0,0 och 10,0 och man brukar säga att halva poängsumman ska stå för texten och halva ska stå för hur texten framförs. För att få fram den tävlandes totala poäng så räknar man ihop alla tre jurygruppernas poäng. Tävlingen består av två grundomgångar där alla poeter läser varsin dikt per omgång, och beroende på hur många tävlande poeter kvalet består av så kommer det kanske också bli en kvalfinal under kvällen för de bästa. Så som minst två dikter och som mest tre dikter kommer man behöva som tävlande. Dessa är alltså reglerna. De två bästa poeterna per kval vinner en plats i laget som åker och representerar Växjö i SM i Norrköping i maj!

What we are doing here is to compete in reading poetry on stage. As a competitor you get on stage and read a poem that you have written yourself. The only prop you are allowed to have on stage is a sheet of paper where your poem is written. Your time limit is 3 minutes, and if you read longer than 3 minutes and 10 seconds you get 0,5 points removed from your total score per every new 10 seconds started. If you read for 3 mins and 15 sec we remove 0,5 points, and if you read for 3 mins and 21 sec we remove 1,0 points. Before the competition starts we will choose 3 jury groups for the audience and they will be the ones scoring the performances. The jury can score the performances with point between 0,0 and 10,0 and one usually says that half the score should refer to the text and half the score should refer to how the text is performed. To get the full score of the competitor we add the scores of the 3 jury gourps together. Each of the two qualifiers will consist of two rounds where all poets read one poem each per round, and depending on how many competitors are in the qualifier there might also be a final for the best ones during the night. So if you compete you will need at least 2 poems and 3 at the most. These are the rules. The two best poets per competition win a spot in the team which will represent Växjö in the Swedish Championships in Norrköping in May!
